Happy Carpets, the book

January 20, 2012  |  News, Pubblications

Aldo Cibic Happy Carpets is the book about the meetings and the long work that led Moret and Cibicworkshop to the creation of a new collection of precious carpets handmade with the most ancient techniques.

From the book:

The experience with Moret.

On thinking back how we came to design the carpets with Hasan, and considering the joy I feel on seeing them as finished, real, magical objects, I realise how the intensity of the project was the result of many stages with different people. It involved trial and error, which yielded unexpected solutions, and the loving care invested by those who wove the carpets.
For my part, the initial dream was to manage to make real rugs and not simply apply graphics to carpets. I liked the idea that they could be warm, soft and iconographically lively. I was interested in understanding what materials and techniques could help us achieve this result.
Tommaso Corà always worked at my side and it was he who kept the project as a whole on the road. Elena Xausa, on the other hand, is a talented, friendly young graphic artist with whom after long – at times even heated – debate, we produced the various decorative motifs in the collection.
What I like most about my work is managing to ensure that the things I do ultimately have a recognisable spirit. In this case I have the feeling that everything that was going on in the whole process – thanks to the contribution of all those involved – generated this collection, which has its own joyful, rich story.
