The Università Iuav di Venezia – School of Doctorate Studies is organizing an International Conference about the city of Istanbul within a cycle of conferences ‘Ritratti di Città / Portraits of cities’ on cultural and urban experiences around the world.
The Conference, curated by Teresita Scalco, Moira Valeri and Marco Vani, will be held on February 29th – March 1st 2012 in Venice at Palazzo Badoer that houses the Iuav School of Doctorate Studies.
The goal of the International Conference is to provide a wide range of point of view in order to investigate the current transformations of the city and to attempt a better understanding of its coming evolutions based on an interdisciplinary approach, which ranges from the urban planning to architecture, from arts to design and cultural policies; therefore this upcoming event will be structured in four thematic sessions: the opening session, city&architecture, city&society and city&culture. In the evening of the 29th February, at the Magazzini del Sale, there will be the projection of the documentary film Ecumenopolis. City without limits, followed by a debate with Imre Azem (diretor) and Emine Gaye Gunay (producer).

The International Conference is under the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy in Istanbul, Honorary Consulate General of Turkey in Venice and Venice City, Department of Cultural Affairs.
