Wish Tree, OLED chandeler
Wish Tree, an experimental OLED chandeler by Cibicworkshop
Cibicworkshoo designed Wish Tree, a OLED light installation for the new Ristori Theater. OLED is the latest technological threshold in research on new light sources.
48 super-thin sheets of glass float in space in the Ristori Theatre foyer, lighting up as if by magic, hung on a slender structure that resembles a tree grown from the ceiling upside down.
Wish tree is the first result of the collaboration between Cibicworkshop and Blackbody, a research start-up company working to develop new oled light sources.
Oleds are organic light-emitting diodes form 2 mm thin luminous surfaces.
They belong to the family of semi-conductor lighting sources just like leds, which are commonly used for outdoor lighting and automobiles. However, oleds rely on organic substances such as carbon and hydrogen to emit light. oleD lighting solutions give rise to a new use for light.
Long-lasting (14,000 hour life), ultra flat, glare-free, and heat-free, these luminous panes are reinventing home lighting.
Blackbody is a pioneering oled start-up.
Part of the french Astron FIAMM, supported by FIAMM, an industrial Italian Group founded 70 years ago. Blackbody has a new approach to OLED technology applied to lighting and focused on the final product creation, employees from 5 different countries, 13 doctorate-level researchers (In Quantum Physics, Electronics, Chemistry…), with an average age of 30 years old.
Blackbody is now working with Cibicworkshop for new oled applications and designs.
