2009 – Politecnico autumn workshops at “Product Service System Design” degree of Politecnico di Milano
Workshop to launch the “International Design Competition MILANO URBAN CAMPING”.
Workshop manifesto:
The aim of this workshop is to design a hospitality settlement in Milan located on the immediate city outskirts that combines the idea of a modern camping site with the imagine of a small village, offering accommodation solutions from tents to bungalows.
All of the tents will be owned and organized by the camping management. Placing more or fewer tents will allow the owner to vary the capacity of the structure depending on the demand.
The bungalows will be temporary structures, resistant and cozy and at the same time designed to be easily removed without major intervention. In this sense the latest Italian camping regulation law allows to place mobile houses on campsites without the need of any particular permission.
The camping site will also include structures dedicated to communal services and to supporting new and dynamical lifestyle.
The project will focus on the landscape and will foster sustainable lifestyle together with energy efficient buildings. Great importance will be given to all the activities and interactions between peoples inside the camping/village: all the daily actions need specific answers (circulation, car parking, bicycles, cooking and eating, clothes cleaning, ecc.).
The aim of the project is to make the customer feel an hi-quality esthetically experience both for design and for daily life.
