II° Workshop di progettazione 26/30 Aprile 2011
26-30 Aprile 2011

The desire to identify themselves in new communities that share similar expectations about the future and the reality of built volumes that remain unused, put together a challenge to the creation of contemporary life-styles.

“We face a future in many cases full of uncertainties; at the same time, however, we are aware of the many problems in front of us: the list is long, but only to mention some we must tackle integration, personal safety, food safety, energy safety and sources, economy, waste safety, resources safety, suburb degrade and so on… .
To fight our fears we need finding the way to proceed with a sort of sensible, creative and interesting planning that could produce ideas, proposals and answers able to guarantee an upgrading of life quality, for us as well as for our children and the people around us.
It is an idea of Happiness that we build by rolling up our sleeves, and which is generated by different people all sharing the intent of living together to create new communities.”

Rethinking Happiness

Here are the two projects developped during the workshop:

Lake reborn

A warehouse on the banks of a lake is revitalized into a place of hospitality and activities.

Il lago rinato

Reoxygenation of the lake
The first consideration in the presence of a place as one of the lakes is related to the health of the basins themselves.
The obvious eutrophication, or the abundant growth of algae and mucilage in the water due to the presence of high concentrations of nitrates and nitrogen, resulting from intensive agriculture and sewage sversameni, causes the slow death of all life forms ‘inside the lake and, consequently, of all the activities that are connected to the lake itself: fishing, swimming, ecotourism, etc …
The change is in reoxygenating the lake through mechanisms for pumping air from the lower layers towards the surface, by using mechanical heads that allow the system to slow return of all activities inside and outside the lake itself.
The intervention, not invasive, would have in the Veneto region of a few applications of these solutions common in European countries and in neighboring Trentino.
The monitoring of the rebirth of the lake could be followed within a warehouse used for the areas of teaching, promoting science models of the system with easy to understand

The old carpenter
A warehouse near the lakes is revitalized and becomes a place of hospitality and center for cultural activities and entertainment.
The volumes of the old woodworking Tarzo are retrained to accommodate a hostel / bed & breakfast and an educational center dedicated to the popular habitat of lakes and Revine Tarzo and rehabilitation of their ecosystem.

There is always something to do
The Revine and Tarzo lakes offer a range of activities throughout the duration of the year.
The new facility is devoted to all cultural and sports activities that can be done.
The Shed in the project becomes an information center for teaching about the biotope of the lake revitalization.
The center became the focal point for all new activities that will raise the turism on the lakes due to their reoxygenation.

The Pigsty

From a farm to a new rural community

A new community
The old disused piggery on the outskirts of Vittorio Veneto becomes a new rural community.
The spaces accommodate a variety of residences and workshops / studios in a contemporary vision that combines the tradition of home+atelier in Veneto with that of co-housing and shared services.
This is compounded by the presence of a B&B dedicated to guests and tourists.
The three large basins of sewage are processed in an integrated system for energy production and clean water community. They are thus transformed in a digester to produce biogas from agricultural waste, a basin wetlands and an eco-swimming pool.

The pigsty
Outline of the reuse of existing volumes of pig farms and the new use in the emerging rural community.
The new allocation provides homes for 10 families with common rooms (playroom and fitness), 10 workshops / studies with common areas (meeting rooms and technical presentations), and a bed & breakfast.

Ecosustainability productive
The community uses a system of energy supply and sanitation that reuse waste of resources resulting in savings and added value.
